Currently, the addition of bile acids in pig feed is primarily targeted at piglets, aimed at addressing their insufficient bile acids secretion. To enhance the growth rate of piglets, an appropriate amount of fat needs to be added to their feed to meet the energy requirements for their growth. Due to the incomplete development of piglets' organs, the synthesis and secretion of bile acids are inadequate, resulting in limited emulsification and absorption of lipids in the feed. Excess lipids accumulate in the intestines, leading to common nutritional metabolic disorders in piglets. Research has reported that the use of bile acids in high-fat diets for weaned piglets significantly improves feed intake and the digestion and absorption of fats, leading to a notable enhancement in the growth performance of weaned piglets. Cao Aizhi et al. added bile acids to the basal diet of piglets to study their effects on production performance and immune function. The experimental results showed that bile acids supplementation effectively reduced the diarrhea rate during the nursery phase, improved growth performance, and promoted the production of immunoglobulins, thereby enhancing the immune function of piglets. Reinhart at Ohio State University found that adding bile acids to the diet of weaned piglets significantly increased their feed intake and daily weight gain, along with improved fat intake, digestion, and absorption. These findings indicate that bile acids supplementation enhances fat digestibility and plays a clear role in improving the production performance of growing pigs.
